I decided to install Magento 2 in my local machine for a few tests and I found a bit confusing the Github page. Just too many links and extra references.

To get straight to the point, I’ve created a step by step article. You can copy and paste each command and hopefully have a Magento 2 website running by the end of it.

Just before we get started, be sure you match the basic criteria:

1) PHP 5.5.x or higher;

2) MySQL 5.6.x or higher;

3) Apache 2.2 or higher;

Now we can continue:

1) Clone the repository

$ git clone https://github.com/magento/magento2.git

2) Update the dependencies

$ composer.phar install

3) Now type in your browser the URL (e.g.: http://SOME_IP/MAGENTO_FOLDER/setup). You should be able to see an screen like below:

And, once you accept the terms and conditions:Screen Shot 2015-06-10 at 2.18.23 PM

4) And voilà! Website’s up and running.

Happy Coding!
